Charis Community Housing
Charis Community Housing is about proclaiming the Good News of the Kingdom of God by restoring the physical vibrancy of urban communities. It is the real estate arm of FCS Urban Ministries which attracts and harnesses economic forces to create community empowerment through real estate. Charis prepares the soil for community development, assembles land, constructs and manages housing, and coordinates the redevelopment plan for entire neighborhoods.
Mission Statement
The mission of Charis Community Housing to restore and develop wholesome, viable, self-sustaining mixed-income neighborhoods where God’s peace is present and people’s lives and their community are transformed. In partnership with community leadership, Charis designs comprehensive redevelopment plans, assembles implementation teams and resources, and serves as master developer for the rebuilding of neighborhoods.
Programs
* Home Construction – churches, businesses and other organizations sponsor and build affordable homes for low-income community residents
* Community Development – reweaving the fabric of the neighborhood through community organizing, home-owner training and support, and recruitment of strategic neighbors to provide fresh indigenous leadership
* Property Management – managing and maintaining rental units and transitional housing
