How rich are your really? What does the LORD require?
Didn’t realize I’m among the richest 1% on earth, since I’m sure not among the richest 1% in the USA or even in the top 10%.
The beauty of statistics is that you can make them say anything you want.
Indeed according to the Richlist, my gross income puts me in the top 1% in the world. Now…let’s take a closer look at the cost of living in the US:
Taxes(Federal, State, Local, and Sales): ~50%
Transportation: ~10%
Food: ~5%
Clothing: ~2%
Number of people in family: 4
Since I am the only person in my family earning an income, we must divide the final number by 4.
That puts my income at just over $5k which is the global average according to the referenced site. My position is 857,818,542 and is in the top 15%.
I gave just over $5k to religious organizations this year. Hmmm.
Always keep in mind that when we are told that x number of people live on $1 a day…that in that part of the world it may only cost 50 cents a day to live very comfortably.
Guilt by man is manipulation, Guilt by God is conviction.
It’s amazing that so many of us are considered wealthy when compared to the rest of the world! If you think about it, we are quite selfish and we need to be giving to those in need, instead of sufficing our wants. God calls us to give to others and He will provide for us.
Sometimes people try to make themselves feel better and justify why its ok that they use their money for themselves. Just remember Jesus had NOTHING and gave EVERYTHING…. we are to compare ourselves ONLY to jesus and not to others. THanks for all you guys do.
